‘‘You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else's path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else's way, you are not going to realize your potential.’’ – Joseph Campbell

So we continue to blaze our path. Learning to use fear as a compass, the clenched fist around our heart and soul reminds us that we are heading in the right direction. That there is purpose and meaning guiding our aim. If it were not there, or if this were easy then it likely wouldn’t be sharpening us to such a keen edge. Compelling us forward, to become better.

In order to achieve the ideal life, we need to enter the place of maximum terror. Viewing fear through this lens, it isn’t just a necessary obstacle. Fear indicates the places we must go.

Creating with Syrah continues to be a darkest point we must venture toward; that most magnificent lens into our souls. A grape with such powerful potential — which gives us ample opportunity to compare, perhaps to measure up, perhaps not. But always to learn and to improve.

This wine loves listening to Circulus and drinking from a metal chalice while deep in revelry, enjoying the soul satisfying glory of personal growth and self discovery

Drink this with a slight chill, perhaps in the wine, or perhaps in your bones as you contemplate striking off on your own unbeaten path

Production Notes

We are very excited about the fruit source for this wine. These grapes are from a single certified organic vineyard site in Osoyoos, BC. We received two tons of Syrah on the frigid afternoon of October 25, 2021. The ice cold fruit was placed whole cluster into two macrobins. It took a week for the fruit to warm up and begin to ferment. At this point we stomped to release juice and then continued a program of one to two punch-downs per day as needed for the length of the almost four week fermentation. The wine was then pressed and racked to two puncheons and one barrique where it rested for 16 months.
