2019 Gamay Noir

You might be familiar with the 2018 vintage of this wine. It made a lot of people very happy. It was delightful and a complete surprise - we didn’t even know we were going to have the chance to make Gamay until a week or so before we harvested it. In 2019 we had time to plan. We changed a few things due to the vintage and lessons we learned from fermenting the 2018. Mostly, we stomped more. We like stomping! We like stomping! Maybe it’s the East Coast in us - Mr. Stompin’ Tom Connors coming out in our winemaking preferences - or maybe it is more of a Mr. Deeds’ butler sort of thing, we don’t know why.
In any case, this wine is everything we loved about the 2018 with amped up structural integrity. The texture is more robust from tannin and there is a slightly more sappy aroma and flavour; both of these are probably due to the greater time this wine spent with juice contacting the stems compared to 2018. The other fact of note is that we tripled our production of this wine in 2019 - so fill your… BOOTS!
This wine loves Salmon, still. Like really loves it. In many forms. Cold smoked, rubbed, poached. Just eat some pink fleshed fish and drink this wine already!
Drink this and think of autumn. Decomposing leaves on wet earth. A chilly fog that calls for wearing an Aran sweater, while truffle pigs snort around in the mulch at your feet.
